Developing Covenant Partnership for Missional Communities
The Queensland Synod has a wide range of approaches to supporting missional work.
The UC Foundation offers grants for specific projects. The process involves filling out a form and hearing back with a yes or no, and a specific figure.
Go Grants offer $500 for specific projects that involve people ‘going’ into mission. The process involves filling out a one page form, and hearing back with a yes or no.
Vision for Mission covenant grants have been developed by the Queensland Synod to further the Uniting Church’s capacity for innovation in mission. Such funding partnerships are developed in negotiation with key stakeholders and involve the development of a covenant outlining commitments, evaluation and learning outcomes. The process is supported by the VFM advocate, Synod and Presbytery staff. Where staffing is involved the Presbytery plays a key role in forming the position. At present funding is not available for new ‘covenant grants’.
